HAPPY (HIC) NOOO YEARRR !!! Y'ALL

New Year's Eve
12.29.04 (11:47 am)   [edit]
As I usually do, I am going to leave the partying to the amateurs. I haven't gone out for New Years in over 20 years. It's just too much hassle. I'll have a drink or two, pop some fireworks and go to bed at 12:15.  My wife has to work anyway so it wouldn't be any fun going out. I'm just gonna cook my blackeyed peas and crack that bottle of canadian whiskey I got for Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Snoooooooooow!!!!!
12.23.04 (7:44 am)   [edit]
We got snow outside!! Course you know that if you read my other post. We took the kids out to play in it for a FEW minutes. Got pictures of Eddie in his FIRST snow and Tahra in her second. She actually played in it. Mommie rolled her around in it (she didn't like that part) but it made a good picture. When we develop them I'll get Sherry to post them. We've got about 4 inches in the yard. It's real fluffy so it wouldn't make a good snowman thout adding water and I just wasn't gonna do that. I gotta get out later and buy Eddie's walker my mil gave me the money for. Gotta have it here for Santa to give him. I'm just waiting for the roads to clear a little.

Holiday Travel
12.23.04 (4:24 am)   [edit]
Went to mil for Christmas on Monday. It's a 5 hour drive that over the years I've done hundreds of times. Coming home yesterday was just a little different. We have been watching weather reports and the doppler for 2 weeks preparing for this trip. As late as 8 am yesterday the forecast was for winter weather to begin to reach the state late afternoon around 4. We left at 9. 5 hours we should be home well before the start, right? WRONG!!!  Right before we got to Little Rock the radio said the rain was going to be there by 12. By the time we got there an hour later it was rain and sleet. By the time we got to Hot Springs it was a full blown snow storm. We stopped for lunch and to change the babies. Right outside town we ran into the first problem. People were all over the road in ditches. Our speed was about 15 mph.  5 miles later we were sitting watching a line of other cars sitting. Nearly 2 hours later we were over the hill to see a potato chip truck sitting sideways in the other lane. Don't know why the sheriff there was not directing traffic, but the line coming at us on that side of the hill was at least as long as the on we had been sitting in. 2 hours later we were 25 miles further down the road. That's where we got lucky cause we found that we were behind a highway snowplow that was clearing and sanding the road.  6 pm and we were in Mena.  5 1/2 hours to travel 80 miles. You notice that I said nothing bout my driving problems. Das cause outside of the idiots out there that can't drive, I had no problems. Lots of snow yes ice, no. As long as I maintained speed I just rolled on. The problems came from the rednecks in their 4 wheel drives and the blue hairs that had no business out there. I know that the storm came on early but if you don't keep at least a week's groceries in your home, don't get out when it starts snowing to buy milk and bread. Do without. The weather in Arkansas never lasts mor than 3 days, then you can drive anywhere. VENTING DONE NOW.   Hope everyone has a good Christmas.

Uhhhhhhh
12.18.04 (5:01 pm)   [edit]
I am so tired right now. Last night Eddie decided that he was gonna stay up all night. He woke up at about 10:30 and would NOT go back to sleep. He finally crashed at about quarter to one. Then Tahra woke up at about 3 and it was 30 minutes before I could calm her down enough to go back to sleep. I think the early morning train going thru town scares her as this happens about twice a week. What I wouldn't give for a FULL and complete night's sleep.

Christmas lights
12.15.04 (3:05 pm)   [edit]
We took Tahra look at the park Christmas Lights display tonight. We also traveled around the neighborhood and checked the neighbors' lights. Every where we went Tahra would say ooooooohhhhh pritty. She was awed at the park. She even said wow. There doesn't seem to be as many homes lighted this year. It seems to get smaller every year. Are there more Scrooges these days or are people worried bout the electric bill. Any way my lights are on and my baby loves them.

I'm posting already
12.12.04 (12:16 pm)   [edit]

My wife informed me yesterday that I haven't posted all week. It's true. I have been lax. Course the phone has been out and I actually had to work this week. 2 days even. But I still shoulda posted somethin.

After reporting our phone problem 5 times in two weeks, the repairman came on Friday. We will prolly hear from SBC on Monday cause Sherry sent an email late Thursday threatening to change companies if something wasn't done. It was the only way to get the message to them. Every time we called we got the answering service telling us to use the automated system and the automated system does not have a way to complain just a way to report a problem. Anyway we should get some kind of credit from them since we have been without a phone since Thanksgiving. If we don't we prolly will look into another phone company. They aren't the only one out there anymore.

My merchandising job is working out ok. I think they will be adding to my route every week. They scheduled me for 4 stores on Tuesday this week. One of them is gonna close in a couple of weeks, so, there won't be much to do there. And I get paid for 1 1/2 hours for doing it. Two of the others are Wal-Marts so they will be easy too. My first check was so small that they only took out three bucks for ssn. So the only income for this year will be 2 checks and they will only total about 100 bucks between them. No income from me this year and Sherry's small one and our latest little deduction and we will be getting back all that she paid in and a little extra . I reallllllly love my kids at tax time.

Sunday
12.05.04 (9:18 am)   [edit]

It's Sunday and it's raining again. So far the phone is working today. It was off for a while yesterday then on for a while, then off again. Sherry tried to call me this morning and it went out as soon as it rang one time. I called the phone company again and they are sposed to be here before Tuesday. I'm gonna make them check the seals on the box and the connections by the street. There's water getting in somewhere and I want them to find where.

Was watching football but the only game showing right now is the Rams and Niners and it's sucking pretty good. Maybe one of the games at 3 will be better.

Sherry and I have most of our Christmas shopping done. Just gotta get it out of layaway. It's not as big as I wanted it for the kids, but, there's just not enough money this year. Maybe we'll start a Christmas account at the bank. We could use the teeny checks I'm getting from my new job and they would have a pretty good one next year. They will have a Christmas this year and they don't really NEED anything, but , I just wanted it to be better. I wanna spoil my kids. What can I say?

was gonna bitch about UPS monday cause we waited all day for a package that was sposed to be delivered. then I went to check on it and it had been rescheduled for Tuesday. I was so pissed. But then it showed up about 7 monday night. So I could only complain about it being so late. Then yesterday the phone went out. Not the DSL line just the phone. So we've been using my cell and not everyone has that number. I prolly missed a couple of calls. If my DM wants me she can email but some of the other people only have my land line. I would complain to the phone company but by the time they get here to fix it the lines would dry out and we would be working again. That's what happened last week. We've had a potfull of rain lately and everything is saturated beyond draining capacity. You'd think it was September the way the rain is coming in instead of the first week of December. Weather has been weird this year.
